This two-session online course also incorporates the material covered in AWS's On-demand ARR Course 5: Design Estimation. The principles of Design Estimation will be introduced in the first session of RORB essentials, and discussed further in the second live session.

Pre course webinar:

This course is highly practical, with two, 2-hour training sessions and include ARR On-demand Design Estimation to be completed between Part 1 and Part 2.

In this course we cover:

  • Downloading and installing RORB
  • Specifying catchments and waterways
  • Obtaining and loading input data: rainfall IFD, pre-burst, and temporal patterns
  • A brief discussion of the theory of runoff routing
  • The role of routing parameters and how to select values for your project
  • Calibration of RORB to historic flood events
  • Running RORB with a single, and an ensemble, of rainfall temporal patterns
  • Interrogating RORB output

Format

  • Pre-and-post-course materials to go through via the AWS learning platform;
  • Access to ARR #5 course Design Estimation to be completed between Part 1 & Part 2;
  • Manual of the course and working model download/s;
  • Ability to ask questions to the presenter at anytime through the learning platform;
  • Course access for 30 days
  • Attendees earn CPD hours/points (ie with Engineers Australia) for at least 14 hours for the entire course.

Requirements

A good internet connection, software and downloads as described in the learning platform (full details available upon registration).

Outcome

On completion of the course, attendees will be issued with a Certificate of Participation.
