Beth has been at the Hydrologic Engineering Center (HEC) of the US Army Corps of Engineers since January 2000. Her work spans reservoir optimization and using uncertain forecast information to make operating decisions; water supply yield analysis; flood risk analysis that carefully and distinctly incorporates natural variabilities and knowledge uncertainties; and flood frequency analysis and other statistical methods. She contributes to the Forecast-Informed Reservoir Operation (FIRO) effort in Northern California, and was a co-author of US guidance document Bulletin 17C (Guidelines for Determining Flood Flow Frequency). Before joining HEC, she operated reservoirs in a multi-watershed system at Denver Water, then received a doctorate in civil engineering at Cornell University.
