Dr Larissa Perez is an environmental engineer graduated from Universidade Federal Fluminense, Brazil. She did her PhD research at the University of Queensland, as part of the Tidal Energy in Australia – AUSTEn Project, which aimed to assess the feasibility of developing tidal stream energy in Australia. Larissa characterized turbulence parameters in prospective tidal energy sites, tested different wave-turbulence decomposition techniques as well as investigated tidal turbine performance under the observed conditions. As part of her experience, she has studied the resource of prospective tidal energy sites across Australia and Europe. Currently, Larissa is part of the Ocean Science and Technology team at RPS.
