Jan Gill

Jan Gill is the Groundwater Policy Team Leader in the NSW Office of Water, which is part of the Department of Primary Industries. Jan holds degrees in law and environmental studies and worked in legal roles before switching to water policy 20 years ago. She was part of the team that developed the Water Management Act in the late 90s and has developed amendments to that Act and its regulation since then. Jan has also been involved in developing water sharing plans for groundwater in NSW, including the Water Sharing Plan for the Greater Metropolitan Groundwater Sources. Jan leads a small team that develops groundwater policies, including the NSW Aquifer Interference Policy which was released by the NSW Government last year.
