Erik Bollaert received his PhD in 2002 in Civil Engineering at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, where he studied rock scour. In 2002, he organized the International Workshop on Rock Scour. In 2006, he received from ASCE the “Karl Emil Hilgaard” Prize and the “J.C. Stevens Award” for his work in rock scour. As scour expert and hydraulic consultant, he participated in numerous projects worldwide, mainly in Australia, North and South America, the Middle East, Africa, India, and Europe.

Dr Bollaert is the developer of the Comprehensive Scour Model, a physics-based model for prediction of scour in fractured rocks. He is author of numerous scientific papers and editor of the book “Digital Rock Scour: Cloud-based Modelling and Engineering” to be published next April 2024.
