V & E Seminar by Bureau Expert Returning From USA

Tuesday, 2 June, 2009

In May, ICE WaRM was proud to host Dr Renee Kidson (Bureau of Meteorology) at a free seminar titled ‘Improving California’s Water Supply Reliability, through Portfolio Management’

Renée recently undertook a 3-month fellowship at the University of California, sponsored by ICE WaRM through the Visits and Exchanges Programme.
This seminar presented Renée’s analysis of the reliability of California’s water supply in a very interesting presentation about her research and work in California, USA. This very accomplished presenter talked about water supply being piped from north to south in Los Angeles and San Diego and potential risks associated with this. Also, opportunities for improving water supply going into 2020, based on portfolio theory modelling, were highlighted.

The ICE WaRM Visits and Exchanges Programme provides an opportunity to industry, vocational education and training and the tertiary education sector and research communities for increased engagement at an international level in the area of water resources management education. Participants on short to medium term visits and exchanges will be able to share skills, knowledge and experiences that will benefit the individual, their home and host organisations and ICE WaRM to enhance the field of water resources management.
