Declan O’Shea is a Senior Hydrologist at HARC with over 7 years of experience in hydrology and water resources working in both research and consulting. Declan has experience in a range of hydrologically complex projects, including deriving extreme rainfall and flood probabilities for large dam catchments across Australia, and deriving intensity-frequency-duration (IFD) curves for southeast Queensland.
In 2023 Declan completed a PhD at the University of Melbourne.  Within Declan’s PhD they investigated methods to estimate IFD curves under climate change and approaches to incorporate non-stationarities in major flood drivers into event-based design flood modelling procedures. The findings of their research have helped to inform the climate change guidance chapter of the Australian Rainfall and Runoff guidelines.
