Declan is a final year PhD Candidate at the University of Melbourne undertaking research looking at how we can improve estimates of extreme flood risk in the presence of climate change. Within Declan’s PhD they have investigated methods to estimate design rainfall curves under climate change and approaches to incorporate non-stationarities in major flood drivers into event-based design flood modelling procedures. Given the industry backing of this research it is hoped that the results will be used to inform future flood risk assessments of infrastructure around Australia.

Prior to this Delcan worked at Hydrology and Risk Consulting (HARC) and has continued to work on several industry projects with HARC during their PhD.
