1. What types of training courses are available?

AWS deliver a variety of training courses all of which are delivered entirely in an online environment:

Live Online Training

Live Online Training refers to scheduled, real-time instructional sessions delivered via the Australian Water School’s Learning Management System. These sessions are facilitated by industry experts and are designed to promote active engagement through interactive components such as live Q&A, collaborative exercises, and participant discussion. Attendees can attend at the designated times based on their timezone and work commitments, and participate respectfully in accordance with the behavioural standards outlined herein. Recordings of live sessions may be made available following the event, subject to the School’s discretion and technical feasibility.

On-demand Training

On-Demand Training comprises pre-recorded instructional content made accessible through the Learning Management System (LMS). These courses are designed for self-paced learning and may be accessed at any time during the course access period. Content is curated and delivered by subject matter experts and covers a wide range of topics relevant to the water sector. Participants are responsible for managing their own progress and engagement with the material. On-demand courses are available for immediate purchase and provide access from 30 days to 4 months, depending on the course series or bundle as described on each individual course page.


2. How do I pay for a course?

Option 1: PayPal (Preferred Method – Instant Access)
This is the fastest and easiest way to register. You don’t need a PayPal account—just use your credit card via Guest Checkout.

Steps to pay via PayPal

  1. Find your course on the Australian Water School website.
  2. Select ‘Register’ and choose ‘Pay by Card’.
  3. Log in or sign up to the LMS.
  4. If you have a coupon code, apply it before checkout.
  5. Follow the PayPal Guest Checkout process using your credit card.
  6. You’ll receive a confirmation email and can start your course immediately.
  7. Invoices are available to download under ‘My Payments’ in the LMS

Option 2: Invoice Request (AUD $50 Admin Fee Applies)
This option is ideal for group bookings or organisations needing formal invoicing.

Steps to pay request an invoice

  1. Find your course and select ‘Register’, then choose ‘Pay by Invoice’.
  2. Complete the invoice request form (include details for multiple attendees if needed).
  3. Choose your payment method:
    a. Bank Transfer – Available for Australian attendees only.
    b. PayPal Invoice – Available to all attendees. AWS staff will send a PayPal invoice link; international attendees can pay via credit card as a guest (no PayPal account required).
  4. Submit the form. We’ll email your invoice.
  5. Once payment is received, attendees will be enrolled and notified.

Note for International Attendees:
International participants must pay via credit card online using PayPal (Guest Checkout). Bank transfers are not accepted for international payments.


3. Are courses certified?

AWS courses are developed and delivered by industry experts and are designed to meet high professional standards within the water sector.
Upon successful completion of a course, participants receive a Certificate of Completion from the Australian Water School. This certificate can be used to demonstrate professional development and learning outcomes, showcasing topics and ours completed.
If you’re registered with a professional body—such as Engineers Australia—you may be eligible to claim Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points. We recommend checking with your local or international professional association to confirm eligibility and requirements.


4. Do I receive a certificate after completing the course?

Yes, attendees will receive a Certificate of Completion once they complete the final course survey. This certificate is automatically generated in the LMS and can be shared on LinkedIn.


5. What’s included in a course?

Course inclusions are as follows:
(a) A chance to ask questions during the live sessions through the Learning Platform (LMS).
(b) All sessions are recorded and available for replay.
(c) PDF course manuals, where provided, are available for download.
(d) Exercises to consolidate learning.
(e) Course recordings available for up to 30 days after the last live session (live courses) or up to 4 months (on-demand).


6. Can I access the live course if I miss the event?

Yes, recordings of live courses are available for up to 30 days after the last live session, allowing you to view the content as many times as needed within this period

Certificate of Participation

Attendees at Webinars who participate in the live streaming will be issued with a Certificate of Participation approximately 2 business days after the live webinar. A link to the Webinar recording is available in this email sent to attendees 2 business days after the webinar.

AWS Webinars are recorded, and available on our Website under Watch Past Webinars, and our YouTube channel within 2 business days of live streaming.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Points

All AWS courses are eligible for claiming CPD hours with Engineers Australia, under Type 2 of the guidelines available here.

7. Can I access course recordings after the live session? “What if I can’t attend a live session for a live course I am enrolled in?”

Yes, for live courses, recordings are uploaded within 2 business days to the LMS, and attendees have up to 30 days to rewatch after the last live session. For on-demand courses, recordings are available for 30 days to 4 months.


8. How can I access the live training session?

Attendees can join live training sessions online by following the instructions sent to attendees approximately one week prior to the live course start date.


9. How can I access the session recordings for on-demand training?

Access to recordings are available in the LMS under “Part”. They are listed sequentially based on the topic theme, and found under Part 1, Part 2 etc.

For the Australian Rainfall and Runoff series, the password is at the top of the page. Copy the password in yellow and input into ‘Enter password’ field.


10. What is on-demand training?

On-demand‘ training includes recordings of live courses, meaning as soon as payment is received, attendees are enrolled in the course and can start training straight away. There are no scheduled live sessions with the trainer, but rather the course includes session recordings, with access to the full course from 30 days to 4 months after payment. The material and recordings can be viewed repeatedly during the access period.


11. Do I receive CPD points for AWS courses?

Yes, all AWS courses are eligible for CPD hours with Engineers Australia under Type 2 guidelines. International attendees can refer to the respective details on the website for claiming CPD points.


12. Can I transfer my registration to someone else?

Yes, you can transfer your registration to another person at no additional cost up to a maximum of 5 days prior to a live course start date. Please notify us via email at training@awschool.com.au with the name change. Please see our Terms regarding additional course transfer information.


13. What is the cancellation policy for live courses?

We reserve the right to cancel or modify a course. If that happens, you’ll be offered one of the following options:
(a) a full refund;
(b) a credit note for future use; or
(c) a transfer to another course of equal value.
We will always do our best to make sure you’re looked after and have options that suit your needs.


14. What if I need to cancel my course registration?
  1. If you cancel at least 5working days before the course starts, you will receive a refund, minus a small administrative and transaction fee.
  2. If you cancel within 4 working days of the course start date, we are unable to offer a refund. However, you can transfer your registration to a colleague—just let us know their details.

15. Can I get a refund if I can’t attend?

Refunds are discretionary (refer to our Refund policy under Terms). If you are unable to continue with your course, please submit a refund request in writing. Management will consider requests on a case-by-case basis.


16. What if I need more time to finish my on-demand course?

On-demand courses are typically available for 30 days to 4 months. Extensions are available for a fee, depending on the course. See Extension Policy under Terms.


17. How do I extend my course access?

If you need more time to complete your course(s) a small fee applies as follows:
(a) Single course extension: AUD $110 (inc. GST) for an additional 30 days.
(b) Training series extension: AUD $220 (inc. GST) for an additional 90 days.
Extensions are available up to two requests per course/series.


18. Will I receive a certificate for attending a webinar?

Yes, attendees who participate as a live attendee in webinars will receive a Certificate of Attendance, typically within 2-3 business days.


19. Are course materials available for download?

Yes, course materials are available for download during the access period for live and on-demand courses. For most courses, PDF manuals are provided.


20. What happens if I do not complete the course in time?

If you do not finish the course within the access period, you can access an extension (fees apply). Please refer to the extension policy for details on how to extend your access. See Extension Policy under Terms.


21. How do I contact AWS if I have issues or questions?

22. What should I do if I need employer approval for the course?

AWS provides a template letter to assist with obtaining employer approval. Find tips and the sample letter on our website.


23. How do I know when my course is about to expire?

The course expiry date is displayed in red on your LMS dashboard – https://awschool.talentlms.com/index/?redirect=%2Fdashboard. You can check this at any time during your course to keep track of when your access will end.


24. How does AWS protect my personal information??

As a business unit of WaterRA, AWS follows WaterRA’s privacy policy, ensuring the protection of your personal information. For more details, please review the full privacy policy available on the website. To help protect your privacy never give out your details.


25. Are webinar recordings available?

Yes, AWS webinars are recorded and available on our website under “Watch Past Webinars” and on our YouTube channel within 2-3 business days of the live streaming.


26. Can my LMS account be deactivated?

Yes, we reserve the right to deactivate your account and access to all live courses if you cannot demonstrate proof of payment before the course starts. Additionally, user accounts are automatically deactivated if no Course Fees have been paid within 2 weeks of sign-up, or users have not logged in within [6 months] -.
