Groundwater underpinned and is critical for sustainable development. While it is a huge water resource, and a majority of the global population depends on it, its use, development and management are fraught with insufficient attention and capacity in order to address the challenges of a world of changing demographics and climate. This webinar looked at the present situation of groundwater, in terms of the resource, its development and management, in a global context and focused on longstanding as well as emerging challenges and hotspots around the word, and briefly discussed requirements for building the necessary thrust for addressing groundwater more concertedly in order to achieve sustainable development.
