Nick has a long association with water management commencing with a post-doctoral fellowship in catchment hydrology at Leeds University. Nick moved to Perth where he researched salinisation of land and river systems, and devised restoration strategies adopted across Australia. He then coordinated research on the impacts of bauxite mining on water resources in the native jarrah forest. Before leaving WA, Nick was the CEO of the Western Australian Water Resources Council. In the early 1990s Nick took a senior appointment at Land & Water Australia. Over the subsequent 14 years he established and ran 10 national R&D programs including river health, eutrophication, pesticides, irrigation, wetlands and groundwater. For the six years prior to becoming CEO at International RiverFoundation, Nick was a Senior Executive Consultant with Sinclair Knight Merz, focussing on water, climate change and natural resource management.Nick brings a background in research, management, policy and consulting, in the both public and private sectors, to this role.
