Heather Thomson is a civil engineer with 14 years of experience specialising in tailings and mine waste.  She has led and reviewed numerous tailings dam breach studies and is experienced in failure modes and effects analyses, dam consequence classifications, rainfall-runoff modelling and surface water management design and assessment.  Some recent notable projects include a dam breach assessment for an integrated tailings storage and hydropower facility in Papua New Guinea and a two-phase tailings run-out model for a TSF in Western Australia.
