Chris Ryan

Chris is the Managing Director of Catchment Simulation Solutions (CSS), a specialist consultancy he founded in 2006 to advance hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, and to develop and commercialise the CatchmentSIM software. Under his leadership, CSS has become a key player in flood and floodplain risk management, completing over 20 major studies for NSW councils in the past five years.

Chris and his team have worked extensively with national organisations including the Bureau of Meteorology, CSIRO, the National Water Commission, and eWater CRC. CSS is also widely recognised as a leading technology and software provider in the Australian water modelling industry, responsible for the development of CatchmentSIM and TRIM.

Earlier in his career, Chris worked internationally with SMEC’s water resources group, contributing to projects across Australia, India, Botswana, Ethiopia, Kyrgyzstan, Sri Lanka, the USA and the Middle East.
