Dr. Alex Sánchez is a Senior Hydraulic Engineer at the Hydrologic Engineering Center (HEC) where he has been working for 6 years. Before that, Dr. Sánchez worked at the Corps’ Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory for 8 years. Dr. Sánchez is a computational modeler with experience in coastal, riverine, and watershed modeling. He is the main developer of the 2D sediment transport model in HEC-RAS. Dr. Sánchez also works other aspects of HEC-RAS including hydrodynamics, mud and debris flows, and water quality. Dr. Sánchez has a PhD in Computational Hydrosciences from The University of Mississippi, and a MSc in Ocean and Resources Engineering from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
