Julie Ahrens

Julie is the Community Steward for community led, place based Berri charity, Our Town Berri.

She is a passionate volunteer and social innovator in her community, who leads others to look at problems in new ways, which value the living experience and voices of community members. Julie shares her experience of being an educator in many rural communities and her understanding gained through involvement in many organisations, including Girl Guides Australia, women’s shelters, disability and children’s services. She is an advocate and ally for Aboriginal people in her community, building relationships and developing partnerships to elevate cultural awareness in her community. She leads and mentors others in new ways of working to build positive wellbeing and new opportunities in her community.
