James has over 19 years’ experience in engineering and management across planning, approvals, design and construction on resources (mining and gas), transport infrastructure, municipal and industry/urban development projects.
Throughout his career, James has been heavily involved in a broad range of civil engineering including road design (access tracks to haul roads/highways), geotechnical interpretation, embankment and pavement design, mass haul, resource stockpile management and design, surface facility civil design, rail alignment, earthworks and drainage, hydrology and hydrologic investigations, hydraulic investigation and design, flood studies/modelling, water storage, MAW, tailings and environmental dams and device studies and design, water storage and reuse, spillway design and open channel and piped drainage systems across Australia and internationally. Working on and managing projects as a consultant, a client-side manager and a government agency manager, James has gained a comprehensive and practical understanding of project scope and drivers for all stakeholders to deliver better overall outcomes.
James started Tenvra as a Director/Technical Manager/Principal Engineer with his business partners in August 2024. James provides technical stewardship, project management and delivery on projects currently including major mine expansion stream diversion works and associated dams and surface water management in the Bowen Basin, Queensland. James also works as a client-side project/engineering/technical manager on mining and government projects through his other business, JMCON. James started this business in March 2021, where he has worked in roles such as the Bravus – Carmichael Rail Network Project Engineering Manager. Prior to 2021, James worked with Consultancies and Contractors as a Civil Engineer, Team Leader and Regional Manager on planning, design and execution works. Within each role James has held throughout his career, surface water engineering and design and flood modelling have been an integral part of each project he has managed and/or undertaken.
